Is Mix-Fi free?

Yes. Mix-Fi is free to use and free to export, right in your browser at mix-fi.com. There's nothing to buy to make and download full beats.

Can I use the beats commercially, and what is the one licensing limit?

Yes. You own the tracks you make and can use them commercially, both inside end products like games, videos, apps, ads, and podcasts, and released or sold as songs on streaming and download platforms. The one limit: you can't resell the tracks as standalone assets, in sample packs, or in bulk for others to reuse.

Do I need an account?

No account is needed to make, play, or export beats. Your saved beats live locally in your own browser, so you can just start creating.

Does it work offline, or do I need internet?

Mix-Fi runs entirely in your browser, so generation, playback, and export all work offline with no server needed. Internet is only used for ads when shown, and for future cloud saves once those arrive.

How are the beats made?

Every track is generated from a numeric seed plus your settings, and the generator is deterministic: the same seed with the same settings always produces the exact same song. You can roll a fresh random seed with the dice, type in a specific seed, or reshape a beat with Spin, Mutate, and Randomize.

Can two people generate the same beat?

Yes. Because generation is deterministic, the same seed and settings produce an identical track for anyone, so beats aren't exclusive. That's also why the license is non-exclusive: others can regenerate the same seed.

How do I save a beat?

Use Save to store the beat in your personal My Beats library, which lives in this browser and needs no account. It keeps a full snapshot, so a saved beat reloads exactly as you left it, including your mixer and effects.

How do I share a beat with someone else?

You have two easy ways. Share the seed and settings so they can regenerate the base track, or use Save to file and Export JSON to send a .json preset that reloads the beat exactly, mixer and effects included, on another person's browser or device.

What formats can I export?

You can export finished audio as a full-quality WAV or a 320 kbps MP3, and you can export a JSON preset. The JSON is the editable, re-loadable format that reproduces the whole beat so you can keep tweaking it later.

Is there an iPhone or iPad app?

Not yet. Native iPhone and iPad apps are planned, and in the meantime Mix-Fi runs in your mobile browser at mix-fi.com.

Will there be a paid version?

Mix-Fi stays free to use. An optional ad-free subscription is planned, around $1.99 a month, which would also add cloud saves and help support the app.

Why is there no sound on my phone?

On iPhone, audio plays through the built-in speaker even with the ring/silent switch on, so the switch isn't the issue. If you hear nothing, check your device's media volume and turn it up.

What's the difference between Spin, Mutate, and Randomize?

Spin makes a variation of the current track at your chosen depth of Close, Fresh, or Wild, and a fully unlocked Wild Spin becomes a brand new song. Mutate always transforms this same beat without minting a new seed, while Randomize rolls a completely new song from a fresh seed in one click, keeping your loop length, drama, anchors, and arc.
